티베트의 칭하이 고원의 광활한 내륙, 성스러운 티베트의 ‘니안징 호수’ 근처에는 한 목동 가족이 살고 있다. 여름에 그들은 물과 풀이 있는 곳에서 야크를 친구 삼아 소박하지만 편안한 삶을 살 고 있다. 하지만 갑자기 내린 눈으로 인해 산으로 가는 유일한 길이 막히고 만다. 야크와 인간을 위한 겨울 용품들은 아직 다 준비하지 못한 상태. 이 문제를 해결하지 못하면 목동들은 큰 경제 적 손실을 입게 된다. 모순된 상황에서 그들은 어떻게 인생의 딜레마를 풀어나갈 것인가?
