기후행동의 중심에는 아주 오래된 원시림인 함바흐 숲을 지키기 위해 위험을 무릅쓰는 독일의 시 민들이 있다. 유럽에서 가장 큰 이산화탄소 배출자인 거대 에너지 기업 RWE는 1970년부터 지금 까지 매년 이 숲을 조금씩 갉아먹어 왔다. 이제 남은 숲은 10%뿐. 이 숲이 지도에서 완전히 사라 질 것인가, 아니면 기후 붕괴의 벼랑 끝에서 추락하기 직전에 이 거대한 화석연료산업체를 멈출 수 있을 것인가. 마지막 결전의 순간에 활동가들은 30년간 그들의 집 근처에 새로운 탄광이 생기 는 것을 막기 위해 싸워온 잉글랜드 북동부의 시골 마을과 연대하게 된다. 평범한 사람들과 거대 회사 간의 일견 다윗과 골리앗으로 보였던 싸움은 놀랍게도 희망적인 메시지를 전한다.  

Inside the core of the climate movement, concerned citizens in Germany put their bodies on the line to save the ancient Hambach forest from one of Europe’s biggest coal mines. Every year since the 1970s, a section of the forest has been cut by Europe’s biggest CO2emitter, energy giant RWE. Now just 10% remains.
