2022 기후재앙, 그 시작은 북극이었다. 일상이 된 이상기후, 올여름 유럽은 섭씨 40도가 넘는 역대 최악의 폭염에 시달렸다. 고온 현상은 가뭄과 산불로 이어졌고 재난은 여전히 진행형이다. 열돔 폭염과 기록적인 산불로 고통받는 미국, 그리고 우리는 8월 8일 서울에서 시간당 141.5mm의 폭우를 겪었다. 북극의 변화는 북극에만 머물지 않는다. 대기와 해양의 순환, 영구동토층의 붕괴까지 모두 연결돼 곳곳에 이상기후를 몰고 오고 인류의 생존을 위협하고 있다. 더 늦기 전에 귀 기울여야 하지 않을까. 

The climate disaster in 2022 started in the Arctic. Extreme weather has become a normal thing and Europe suffered from the worst heat wave of over 40 degrees Celsius this summer. Hot weather brought about drought and wild fires and the disasters are still ongoing. America is experiencing a heat dome and record-breaking wild fires. We had to experience a torrential rain in Seoul on August 8 with 141.5mm hourly precipitation. The changes in the Arctic won’t stay in the Arctic. With the circulation of the atmosphere and the ocean, the permafrost collapse and everything is connected with one another bringing extreme weathers and threatening our lives. Shouldn’t we now listen to the warnings?
