Synopsis
‘생산적인 숲이란 무엇인가?’ ‘나무가 울창한 곳이 숲인가?’ <숲의 시간>이 던지는 질문이다. 소나무숲 절경 위로 한 할머니의 나직한 목소리로 영화는 시작된다. ‘소나무가 나를 쫓아냈어요’. 숲은 어떻게 할머니를 떠나게 만들었을까? 감독은 우리가 무심코 지나쳤던 숲의 진정한 모습을 발견하고 이를 지키기 위해 애쓰는 사람들을 찾아간다. 경제논리로 무장한 껍데기만 남은 인공숲은 어떠한 삶도 존재하지 않는, 시간을 잃어버린 곳이다. 다큐멘터리의 예측불가능한 우연성이 생명이 숨쉬는 숲을 만나는 순간을 제공한다.
'What is a productive forest?', 'Is it where many trees are densely populated?' is asking these questions. Over a magnificent pine tree forest, the voice of an old lady is heard, 'The pine trees have driven me out." How did the forest make this old lady leave? The director meets with people who discover and try to save the true nature of forests that we have neglected. Artificial forests that maximize economic efficiency do not accommodate any life. Time is lost there. Through serendipity, this documentary gives us a moment to meet with a living forest.

<숲의 시간>의 촬영지인 프랑스 밀바쉬 지역 출신인 감독은 대학에서 사회학과 다큐멘터리 연출을 전공했다. 이 영화는 2018년 로카르노 국제영화제 비평 주간에 초청되었다. <코치의 이름으로 Au nom du coach> 2012, < La Chasse au Snark 스나크 사냥> 2013 등을 만들었다.
